Thomas Michael Stein (born February 28, 1949 in Stuttgart ) is a German music producer . Until January 2004 he was Managing Director at Bertelsmann Music Group Europe .

Life

The former music promoter and ZDF editor Thomas M. Stein switched to the record industry as managing director of Teldec GmbH in Hamburg in 1982. He left the company in 1988 to take over the chairmanship of its competitor Ariola in Munich, which belonged to the Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG) founded in 1986. As of January 1998, his area of ​​responsibility was expanded to include responsibility for Eastern Europe activities. In January 2001, Stein was appointed Executive Vice President for Global Marketing and Artists and Repertoire for BMG Entertainment in New York. From June 2001 to January 2003 he was also President of BMG Europe, coordinating the European BMG companies. Until his final departure from BMG a year later, he remained President GSA (Germany, Switzerland, Austria). He was particularly committed to Peter Maffay , Tic Tac Toe , N'Sync , Lou Bega , Falco , Eko Fresh , Dido and ATC . Stein was CEO of Jack White Productions AG from March 1, 2006 to August 31, 2008 . Until 2010 he was a regular guest on the show The Ultimate Chart Show . Thomas Stein lives with his two daughters in Vaterstetten , his second home is in St. Ulrich am Pillersee in Tyrol. He is married for the third time. The marriage with his first wife Waltraud was divorced . Stone second wife Margaret died on 28 December 2005 at a cancer . In July 2007, Stein married his then partner Cornelia Eckardt. The two have a daughter together.
