The Rose Hill ( Hungarian Rózsadomb [ ˈroːʒɒˌdomb ]) is a district in the II. District of the Hungarian capital Budapest . It is located west of Margaret Bridge and north of Széll Kálmán tér (1951–2011 Moszkva tér ). For some time now, it has been one of Budapest's preferred residential areas, and the prices of land and property in the hilly and green district are correspondingly high. Many celebrities and politicians live here. The Rose Hill is characterized by villas , avenues and walking paths that reach into the Kühle Tal (Hungarian: Hüvösvölgy ).

A particularly interesting place is the Türbe des Gül Baba ( Türbe = tomb, Gül Baba = Turkish father of roses). It is located at Mecset utca 14 , on the site of an old villa. It was built from 1543 to 1548 for the Turkish dervish Gül Baba , who lived in Buda and died in 1541 at a celebration in the Matthias Church , which was converted into a mosque . Today the dome with Gül Baba's sarcophagus is a museum.

There are also two stalactite caves as attractions : the entrance to the Szemlőhegy Cave (Hungarian: Szemlőhegyi Barlang) is located in the middle of the residential area on the property Pusztaszeri út 37 ( 47 ° 31 ′ 42.7 ″  N , 19 ° 1 ′ 32.4 ″  O ), the Pálvölgyi Cave on the edge of the forest is Szépvölgyi út 162 ( 47 ° 31 ′ 59.2 ″  N , 19 ° 0 ′ 57.3 ″  E ). Both caves are open to the public.

At Csalán út 29 there is the Béla Bartók memorial house , in memory of the Hungarian composer Béla Bartók . He himself lived in this villa before emigrating to the USA. You can also find some of his furniture and musical instruments there. Today the villa is also used for chamber music concerts. In the garden stands the Bartók monument by the Hungarian sculptor Imre Varga .
