The Rosary of Our Lady of the Tears , also called the Crown of Tears or Rosary of Tears , is a Catholic religious devotion based on the various apparitions that Sister Amalia received from Scourged Jesus (1901–1977) in the 1930s.

The helper of the poor and needy

In the Institute of the Missionary Sisters of the Crucified Jesus, founded by Mgr. Francis of Campos Barreto, Bishop of Campinas ( Brazil ), lived a religious woman named Sister Amalia of Scourged Jesus (through the baptism of Amália Aguirre). Like other privileged souls - Saint Francis of Assisi , Padre Pio von Pietrelcina and Therese Neumann - she had the stigmata of Jesus on her own body.

She made her perpetual vow on December 8, 1931 . Her great desire to help a relative in need led her to the chapel there on November 8, 1929. She is said to have pleaded for God's help with fervent prayers . In this prayer she is said to have been instructed to pray a prayer for "Our Lady of Tears". Tradition goes on to say that Sister Amalia received a rosary from the Mother of God in the same chapel on March 8, 1930 . The apparition is said to have told her about this:

"This is the rosary of my tears entrusted by my son to his beloved institute as part of his legacy ... This rosary is used for the conversion of many sinners, mainly those possessed by the devil ..."

This later resulted in the "Rosary of Our Lady of Tears", to which innumerable graces are attributed to pious tradition.

The rosary prayer

This special rosary consists of 49 small white pearls, each divided by seven larger pearls, the so-called seven laws . In addition, three small pearls and the medal “Our Lady of Tears” are attached to a small chain extension . In the sequence of prayer no creed , no Our Father and also not the Ave Maria is prayed, they are replaced by special prayer additions.
