Rosewood is a small town in the Bremer Valley in Queensland , Australia . It is 60 kilometers west of downtown Brisbane and is a station of the Queensland Rail , the light rail (Cityrail) on the Rosewood Railway Line . The Rosewood light rail station is used by commuters to Ipswich or Brisbane.

The origin of the suburban name comes from the tree Rosewood ( Acacia harpophylla ).

The New Oakleigh Mine is close to the site and is the last operating coal mine in the area.

The first coal mine in Lanefield District, west of Rosewood, began operations in 1918. For these mines, two railway lines were operated from the Brisbane- Toowoomba main line to Lanefield Colliery ( 1934-1965 ) and Westvale Colliery ( 1929-1960 ).
