Roshan ( Persian روشن); is the brand name of Telecom Development Company of Afghanistan Ltd and is Afghanistan's leading wireless operator with around six million customers .

history

The Telecom Development Company of Afghanistan Ltd (TDCA) was founded in 2003 by a consortium led by the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a non-governmental development aid organization of the Aga Khan Foundation .

In September 2004 a partnership agreement was signed between the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the AKDN to support projects in Afghanistan . To this end, KfW and its subsidiary, DEG - Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft, work long-term with AKDN.

In 2012, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) granted Roshan a US $ 65 million senior loan to a World Bank company to purchase a 3G license for Afghanistan and build a 3G network .
