Rosine a small village in is Ohio County , Kentucky ( United States ). The population is 41 people (2000). The area around Raisin for about two miles is known as the Jerusalem Ridge . Most of the residents are farming, as is the case in all of Ohio County. In addition, the Rosines economy is based on tourism. The closest major towns are Buckboro and Bowling Green .
Rosine achieved fame as the birthplace of Bill Monroes and Charlie Monroes . All tourism relies on it. Many of Monroe's songs describe raisin or its events, such as Little Community Church or Uncle Pen . In Rosine a memorial was erected in honor of Bill Monroe and a museum was opened. The family home of the Monroe Brothers has also been converted into a viewing point.

Rosine was founded by Henry D. McHenry , a writer and book author. The name raisin comes from his wife, Jenny Taylor McHenry , who was also a writer and used the name as a pseudonym.
