Ross Filipo (born April 14, 1979 in Lower Hutt , New Zealand ) is a New Zealand rugby union player.

Career

Filipo began his career in 2001 as a player for the Marlborough provincial team . He then played for Wellington B in 2002 and made his debut for Wellington a year later . He also played for the Hurricanes Development Squad in 2003, but was not selected for the Hurricanes in 2004 and was instead given to the Crusaders for the 2004 Super 12 season . He has since played with the Crusaders for the Super 12 and Super 14, while playing for Wellington in the Air New Zealand Cup (formerly NPC). In 2009 he moved to France to Aviron Bayonnais , and in 2011 to England to the London Wasps .

Filipo played for the New Zealand Māori in 2005 when they beat the British and Irish Lions for the first time in their history - he described it as a career highlight. After the 2007 Super 14 season, in which Filipo scored six attempts , he was nominated for the Junior All Blacks . Since the second-row striker and international Ali Williams and Keith Robinson injured, Filipo was appointed to the squad of the All Blacks in 2007.
