The Roter-Graben-Talbrücke is a 132 m long railway bridge on the high-speed line Cologne – Rhein / Main . It crosses the biotope Red digging in the area of the district Wallrabenstein the Hessian community Hünstetten and therefore bears his name.

The bridge takes on two tracks on slab track , which can be driven on as planned at 300 km / h.

Location and course

The bridge is located at route kilometer 128 of the new line, about 300 meters west of the federal highway 3 , east of Wallrabenstein.

The route describes a right curve in a southerly direction.

construction

The three-span bridge has a length of 132 m. The greatest pillar height is 15.5 m. The structure carries a two meter high noise barrier.

history

planning

The crossing of the Roter Graben biotope by a bridge resulted from the spatial planning procedure that was completed in November 1994 .

At the end of 1995, the planned length of the structure was 132 m. The regional planning procedure was completed by this time.

construction

The building was erected using falsework .

At the end of 1997 the foundations of the abutments were concreted on one side and the first pillar was erected. The pillars and abutments were completed in mid-1998. The bridge was to be the first bridge structure on the new line to be completed.

The bridge was completed as the first of four large bridges in section C of the new line.

Installation

Commercial commissioning took place in mid-2002.
