The Rote See is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, about 700 meters south of the village of Kakeldütt in the municipality of Mirow .
The Rote See is a round lake southeast of the Jäthensee and has a ditch from the forest area of the Zwenzower firs as a tributary. On the west bank the lake has a ditch as a drain to the Jamelsee . The Müritz National Park borders directly on the western shore area. The Red Lake is not approved for water sports.
