The Rothenkopf is a distinctive ridge south of St. Ingbert . From east to west we distinguish between Rothenkopf (400 m), Betzentaler Berg (402.3 m, highest point) and Schafskopf (390.8 m). Usually the entire back is called a red head.
The Rothenkopf breaks off to the north in a steep slope to the Sankt Ingberter Senke , at this point it forms the northern border of the Sankt Ingbert-Kirkeler forest area . The A 6 (E 50) passes just below. To the south, the Rothenkopf falls less steeply to Reichenbrunn . It goes over a saddle of 355.2 m to Hochscheid . The Rothenkopf is largely covered by forest, with a species-poor acidic beech forest predominating.
The Rothenkopf is tunneled under the Hasseler Tunnel on its eastern edge, near the St. Ingbert Mitte motorway exit .
