The Rothenmühlenau is a river about twelve kilometers long in the Schleswig-Holstein district of Segeberg in Germany .

The Rothenmühlenau arises in the Kiebitzholmer Moor northwest of the Negernbötel . It then flows south of Rickling in a westerly direction under the federal highway 205 and the Neumünster – Bad Oldesloe railway line . In Heidmühlen , in the Segeberger Forest shortly before the watermill , it forms the Osterau together with the Radesford Au .
