The Rotkopf is a 737 m above sea level. NHN high mountain, which is located in the western part of the Thuringian Forest at the interface to the Thuringian Slate Mountains approx. 1 km northwest of Altenfeld not far from the Rennsteig .
On the summit of the Rotkopf is the Steinfilz, a striking rock from which you have a wonderful view of Altenfeld.

From the Altenfeld exit in Neustädter Straße, the tour first leads in the direction of Kahlert to the Altenfeld water basin. Once here, the ascent to the summit of the Rotkopf begins at 737 m above sea level. NHN and then to the Steinfilz lookout point and continue slightly uphill to the Rennsteig. From here the circuit leads back through the forest to Altenfeld.
