Roy Heiner (born November 22, 1960 in Virginia , South Africa ) is a former Dutch sailor .
successes
Roy Heiner took part in four Olympic Games . In 1988 he took seventh place in the Finn-Dinghy boat class in Seoul . Four years later he started in Barcelona in Soling , where he did not get past 18th place. At the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 he sailed again in the Finn dinghy and finished the regatta in third place, which he won the bronze medal behind Mateusz Kusznierewicz and Sébastien Godefroid . He played the 2000 Games in Sydney again in Soling and in fourth just missed another medal win. At the world championships , Heiner first won the silver medal in the Finn dinghy in Ilhabela in 1988 , followed by the bronze medal in Soling in 1999 in Melbourne . In 1999 he was also European champion in Soling.
Heiner started three times in the Ocean Race . 1997/98 he was eighth as the skipper of the Brunel Sunergy , in the Volvo Ocean Race 2001-2002 he was second with Assa Abloy . From 2005 to 2006 he was Technical Director of ABN Amro One , which won the competition.
