Royan ( Persian / Masanderan :رویان) is a city in Masandaran Province in Iran .

According to the 2006 census, there were 6,339 people in 1,708 families in Royan.

Royan lies on the Caspian Sea and the Elbe bend . The four-lane trunk road No. 22 runs right through the small town towards the neighboring towns of Nur in the east and Benjkul-e Sofla in the west.

The majority speak Masanderian as their mother tongue and Persian as a second language and are Shiite .
