Ruben Schelbert

Ruben Schelbert (born December 11, 1988 in Muotathal ) is a Swiss handball player who is mostly used on the left back area.

The 1.95 m tall and 92 kg heavy right-handed player began playing handball in his hometown at KTV Muotathal . There he played in the 1st league and the National League B until 2007. He was then signed by the Schaffhausen cadets , who gave him playing practice in the NLB with the SG Kadetten GS Schaffhausen youth team and loaned him to the first division club Grasshopper Club Zurich . In 2009, the RTV 1879 Basel signed him. For the 2011/12 season, he moved to the Kadetten Schaffhausen, with whom he was able to celebrate the championship. Internationally, he reached the round of 16 in the EHF Champions League 2011/12 with Schaffhausen . In February 2013, his anterior right cruciate ligament tore , which is why he was not used in the 2013/14 season. In 2014 and 2015 he won the Swiss championship and in 2014 the SHV Cup.

In the Swiss national team , Schelbert made his debut on January 2, 2010 against Great Britain and has so far played 29 international matches in which he scored 15 goals. (As of March 6, 2014)
