Rubens Sambueza (born January 1, 1984 in Zapala , Neuquén province ) is an Argentine football player who mainly acts in midfield .

career

Sambueza began his career with the Argentine record champions CA River Plate , with whom he also received his first professional contract and with which he won the Argentine football championship in the Clausura 2004 .

After four years for River Plate, in which he made 49 appearances and scored three goals, he played on loan for the most popular Brazilian club Flamengo Rio de Janeiro and the Mexican clubs UNAM Pumas and CD Estudiantes Tecos . Sambueza was sold to the latter club in the summer of 2010.

In 2012 he moved to Club America , with which he won the Mexican soccer championship and the CONCACAF Champions League twice. When the Americanistas successfully defended their title in the 2015/16 season , Sambueza was also voted the best player of the tournament.

Sambueza has been under contract with Deportivo Toluca since the beginning of 2017 .
