The small or dwarf filefish ( Rudarius minutus ) lives in the tropical , western Pacific from the coast of Malaysia via Kalimantan and the Philippines to the Great Barrier Reef and Palau .
features
It becomes 5 centimeters long and has a relatively high, rhombic body shape. Its color is beige with round, red-brown spots. On the flanks it has 6 light colored fleshy skin appendages. Males have an eye spot above the anal fin . The caudal fin is small.

Way of life
Small filefish are rare and live individually or in small groups in coral reefs near the coast or in sandy areas with individual coral stocks at depths of 2 to 15 meters. They prefer to stay between the branches of sea fans , soft corals or branched fire corals . They feed on small invertebrates.
