Rudi Zörns (born February 6, 1922 in Mainz , † January 26, 2009 in Mainz-Hechtsheim ) was a Mainz fast night .

Life

Zörns, whose father was president of the Mainz Klepper-Garde from 1931 to 1957 , had his first appearance in 1947 at the Carnival in the Brauhaus zum Rad for the Mainz Carneval Club . Shortly afterwards, Rolf Braun brought him to the newly founded Kastel Carnival Club , of which he later became an honorary member. He was also active for 40 years with the Mombacher Carneval association “Die Bohnebeitel” in 1886 , most recently at Worschtobend 2006. He became known nationwide with his appearances in “ Mainz remains Mainz, how it sings and laughs ”, which alternates between ARD and ZDF was broadcast. His typical opening sentence was "Always be I do".

In 1993 he officially said goodbye to the foolish stage, but remained in demand as a speaker despite everything. Zörns made his last big appearance at the side of long-time companions like Herbert Bonewitz in front of a large television audience with the special “50 Years of Mainz Remains Mainz” in February 2005.

Rudi Zörns played without a fee all his life. He earned his living as a decorative painter until 1976 , although he had lost a leg on the Eastern Front in World War II. He was an honorary member of the painters and varnishers guild in Rheinhessen and was honored with the Federal Medal of Merit and the Golden Chamber Mint.
