Origin of the Rudolf source

The Rudolf Spring ( Czech : Rudolfův pramen ) is one of the five mineral water springs in the former Czech spa town of Kyselka in Okres Karlovy Vary . It is named after Rudolf of Austria-Hungary and has been one of the most important water sources in town since it was taken over by the Mattoni brand .

description

location

The Rudolf Spring is located on the south side of the spa town and rises in the forest of the spa park of Villa Mattoni . Geologically, the source is in the Ore Mountains in the Bohemian Massif .

history

The spring was probably discovered in the 16th century and has belonged to the Mattoni company since the 1870s . From 1870 mineral water was regularly tapped here and sold to cities such as Vienna , Prague and Karlovy Vary . Around 1890 the Rudolf Spring was by far the most widely used of all five springs after the Otto Spring. It delivered water to the Kurhaus at the Kurtheater through a water pipe . This connection was lost with the closure of the theater around 1970. However, it should be reconstructed again as part of the future restoration of the site. In 2013 the Rudolf-Quelle was placed under monument protection and the housing of the spring was provisionally cleaned.

Spring water

The spring water is rich in carbonic acid and mineral salts. It is considered helpful in drinking cures and other treatments for respiratory, metabolic and kidney diseases, tension and pain in the musculoskeletal system.
