Rudolf Adam (diplomat)

Rudolf Georg Adam (* 1948 ) is a former German diplomat .

Life

Adam studied at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen , the University of Oxford and the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . At Brasenose College he wrote his doctoral thesis on Francesco Filelfo . In 1974 he received his Ph. D. from Oxford . Then he joined the Foreign Service . He was u. a. active in Singapore and Beijing, speechwriter for Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker , political advisor at the German Embassy in Moscow and member of the planning staff at the Foreign Office . In 1995 he became head of the policy department in the Disarmament Department and in 1998 European correspondent (expanded to include security and defense policy in 1999). In 2001 he moved to the Federal Intelligence Service as Vice President . From 2004 to 2008 he was President of the Federal Academy for Security Policy . In 2008 he became envoy to Moscow and 2011 to London. In 2013/14 he was Chargé d'affaires at the German Embassy in London . He then retired. He is an external lecturer at the Zentralinstitut studium plus at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich and lives in Prien am Chiemsee .
