Rudolf Bernoulli (born December 24, 1880 in Basel , † October 9, 1948 in Zurich ) was a Swiss art historian .

Life

Rudolf Bernoulli was the son of the office employee Theodor Bernoulli (1837–1909) and Maria Bieder (1845–1920) and brother of Elisabeth Bernoulli and Hans Bernoulli . In 1906 he received his doctorate from the University of Bern. From 1906 to 1925 he worked at the art library in Berlin. From April 1, 1925 to 1947 he was curator of the graphic collection at ETH Zurich and lecturer in art history, since 1935 with the title of professor.

He belonged to the circle around Carl Gustav Jung , in 1934 and 1935 he gave lectures at the Eranos conferences. He dealt with occultism and was one of the founders of the Hermetic Society around the medium Oskar R. Schlag .
