Rudolf Bindig

Rudolf Bindig (born September 6, 1940 in Goslar ) is a German politician who was a member of the SPD in the German Bundestag from 1976 to 2005 .

Life

After graduating from high school, which he passed in Goslar in 1960, he studied in Göttingen and Nuremberg and graduated as a business graduate . After working in the commercial sector for a few years, he began again to study political science, history and sociology at the University of Konstanz . From 1971 until his election to the German Bundestag, he worked as a research assistant in social research.

Bindig joined the SPD in 1967 and was a member of the Baden-Württemberg state executive committee of the SPD from 1973 to 1993 . From 1996 to 2009 he was district chairman of the SPD in the Ravensburg district .

From December 14, 1976 to 2005, he was a member of the German Bundestag for eight terms . He was elected on the state list of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) in Baden-Württemberg . Bindig was the spokesman for human rights within the SPD parliamentary group and at the same time the Council of Europe rapporteur for Chechnya . He has been a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe since 1988 and was elected Vice-President in 2002.

In the election on June 7, 2009, he was elected to the district council of the Ravensburg district. For many years he has been the chairman of the non-governmental humanitarian aid organization HELP - Help for Self-Help .
