Rudolf Frieling (born March 23, 1901 in Leipzig , † January 7, 1986 in Stuttgart ) was a pastor of the Christian community and anthroposophist .

Life

Rudolf Frieling grew up in a Protestant rectory in Leipzig. As early as 1916 his father gave him an essay by Friedrich Rittelmeyer to read; a year later he discovered the book How do you get knowledge of the higher worlds? by Rudolf Steiner .

After graduating from high school in 1920, he studied theology and philosophy in Rostock, Marburg and Leipzig. In the same year he was able to publish his first article in the journal Christentum und Gegenwart, published by Rittelmeyer . He took part in Steiner's first theological course in Stuttgart in 1921, and in 1922 in establishing the Christian community. On September 17, 1922 he was ordained a priest and immediately helped to build up various congregations of the Christian community. In addition , he did his doctorate in Leipzig in 1924 with a work on church history ( The Church Conditions of the Ephorie Chemnitz from 1540–1671 according to the visitation files ) as Dr. phil.

In 1929 he was appointed to the leadership committee of the Christian Community as a “driver”. He worked as a priest especially in Vienna and as a lecturer at the seminary in Stuttgart. From 1949 to 1955 he built church ministry in the United States. In 1960 he became Emil Bock's successor as the “arch superior” of the Christian community; he held this office - like his two predecessors - until his death. In addition to his book publications, he wrote numerous articles over the course of around 60 years, most of which appeared in the journal Die Christengemeinschaft - and some of them in the "Gesammelte Schriften" .
