Rudolf Geiselberger (born February 7, 1933 , † May 3, 1987 on the Thaneller / Tirol ) was a German Catholic priest .

Life

After completing his professional training as a landscape gardener , Rudolf Geiselberger studied Catholic theology in Munich . He was ordained a priest on July 23, 1967 . On September 1, 1973, he was appointed diocesan president of the Kolping Society in the diocese of Augsburg . From 1978 he was also chairman of the Kolping Foundation Augsburg . In 1980, Geiselberger was appointed a clerical councilor by Bishop Josef Stimpfle . Pope John Paul II named him Monsignor in 1984 . Rudi Geiselberger died of heart failure while hiking on the Thaneller . He was buried in the cemetery in Penzberg . A memorial cross was erected on the Thaneller near the place where he was found dead. After his death the Kolping Society founded the Kolping Foundation-Rudolf-Geiselberger in the Diocese of Augsburg .
