Rudolf Gradinger

Rudolf Gradinger (born June 13, 1923 in Vienna ; † August 23, 2004 in Fürstenfeld ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and telecommunications technician. Gradinger was a member of the Burgenland Landtag from 1961 to 1964 and a member of the Austrian National Council from 1971 to 1979 .

Life

Gradinger was born as the son of Rudolf Gradinger, a train driver from Vienna, and attended a technical college after compulsory schooling. In 1942 he passed the Matura. He then served in the Wehrmacht from 1942, where he was taken prisoner by the Soviet and American forces. After working in the private sector from October 1945, he switched to the post and telegraph administration as a telecommunications technician in June 1946. He was subsequently employed as a district construction manager in Zistersdorf , Bruck an der Leitha and most recently in Stegersbach , where he finally rose to head the telegraph department. Gradinger was married to Maria Wagner, daughter of Governor Johann Wagner , from 1950 .

Gradinger was involved as an education officer for the ÖVP Burgenland and was district chairman of the ÖAAB Güssing and from 1960 to 1979 regional chairman of the ÖAAB Burgenland. Within the ÖVP he held the office of district party chairman of the ÖVP-Güssing from 1960 to 1979. Gradinger represented the ÖVP from August 8, 1961 to July 5, 1971 in the Burgenland State Parliament and was then a member of the National Council from July 6, 1971 to June 4, 1979.
