Rudolf Holzinger

Rudolf Holzinger (born April 14, 1898 in Vienna ; † August 25, 1949 there ) was an Austrian painter.

Life

His work includes the gable fresco of the Vienna Capuchin Church, 1936. He also created monumental wall decorations, such as the framing painting of the Sacred Heart Altar in the Neuottakringer parish church (1936). Also the glass windows in the former baptistery of the Sandleitner parish church (1936). In 1943 he created the Way of the Cross and a secco painting gallery in St. Othmar under the white tanners ; In 1941 he created the box for the Iron Curtain in the Ronacher . The sgraffito and stained glass window of the consecration hall at Maurer Friedhof from 1936 are also by him.

The Museum of Fine Arts in Leipzig owns an oil painting by Holzinger.

Holzinger lived at Löwengasse 21 in Vienna-Landstrasse and studied with Ferdinand Andri . In 1929 he married the later writer Dorothea Zeemann . Since the wedding, the couple lived in the house at Lorbeergasse 15.
