Rudolf Kƶgler (* 1899 in Schönlinde ; † 1949 ibid ) is the originator of the first nature trail in Bohemia .

Rudolf Kögler was a textile designer by profession, but he was interested in nature as a child. Among other things, he devoted himself to astronomy and botany , but above all he was interested in geology . In the years 1931 to 1935 he created a probably unique geological map with the rocks of his homeland, which is still preserved in the garden of his house and can be viewed today.

Even while he was working on the geological map, he had the idea of building a nature trail along the most important geological sites. The 12 km long path, opened on October 12, 1941, led along the Lusatian thrust from the lime kiln near Daubitz to Wolfsberg and was provided with 70 wooden panels on geology and botany. After the expulsion of the German population in Bohemia in 1945, the nature trail fell into disrepair, and it wasn't until 2006 that it was reopened on almost the same route. In honor of Rudolf Kögler, the path is now known as Köglerova naučná stezka ( Kögler's Nature Trail ).
