history

Daubitz, church

Daubitz was a Slavic village founded around a glassworks that can be traced back to 1457 and was located in 1995. The village belonged to the Kinsky counts , the first verifiable owner was Radoslav Vchynský von Wchinitz and Tettau.

Hinterdaubitz originated 5 kilometers to the northwest, in the valley of the Kirnitsch, and has been traceable since 1547. The Swedes marched through in the Thirty Years' War, remembered by the rock overhang Švédský tábor (Swedish camp) in the rocks near Kreibitz , under which the residents sought refuge. In 1724 the last brown bear in Bohemian Switzerland was shot in the rocks near Daubitz .

During the plum rumble in 1778, small skirmishes between Prussian and Austrian troops took place near Daubitz, Teichstatt and Kreibitz. The Austrian units, which consisted of Chorwaten , Hungarians and Slovenes , soon got tired of fighting and deserted into the rocky landscape of the mountains, with the Swedish camp again serving as a refuge.

Since 1785 the rocks and their hiding places have been a refuge for Karl Stülpner , who had his hiding place on the Limberg at the beginning of the 19th century.

At the end of the 18th century the village expanded to the south and the district of Neudaubitz was built on the corridors of a property towards the Iricht.

The construction of the landmark of Daubitz, the parish church Maria Himmelfahrt, took place between 1811 and 1814.

Daubitz owned a school, but the children from Hinterdaubitz attended the school in Hinterhermsdorf , which is closer to Saxony . From the middle of the 19th century Daubitz was part of the judicial district of Rumburg .

At the end of the Second World War Altdaubitz had 56 houses with 294 inhabitants, Neudaubitz 132 houses with 539 inhabitants and Hinterdaubitz 7 houses with 32 inhabitants. In July 1945, the expulsion of the exclusively German residents and the expropriation of the Kinsky's property began. 200 Czechs were initially settled, mainly from Dymokury and Královice , followed by Slovaks and Sinti and Roma later.

In 1975 Doubice was incorporated into Krásná Lípa and after a referendum has been independent again since 1993.

Today Doubice is a resort and center of equestrian sport and organizes an annual Hubertus hunt among other horse shows .
