history

According to ancient traditions, a small Wendish settlement is said to have been at the site of today's location on the Lausitzer Steig as early as 1015 , from which the place name can be traced back. In Czech, “Windisch” was translated as Srbská ( Sorbian ).

The present village was probably built around 1300 during the settlement of the Scharfenstein rule under the von Michelbergs by German colonists. The church was built at the end of the 13th century. The first written mention of Slavica Kamenicz comes from the papal tithe register of 1352. In 1407 the Berken von Dubá acquired the Scharfensteiner lands. In 1450 Johann von Wartenberg became the owner of the Scharfenstein estate. There is evidence of a local judge since 1488.

Nicholas III Trčka von Lípa , who had bought the entire Wartenberg estate in 1511 for 60,000 shock groschen, sold it to Hans von Salhausen auf Wehlen in 1515 at a price 10,000 shock higher . In 1522 Hans shared the property with his brothers Friedrich and Wolf von Salhausen. Windisch Kamnitz received Friedrich, who had a new castle built in Bensen . When it was divided again in 1535, the Kamnitz rule was established , which later became the property of the Wartenberg family. In 1614 Johann von Wartenberg auf Kamnitz sold all of his possessions to Radslav Kinsky . In 1619 his nephew Wilhelm Kinsky inherited the Kamnitz rule with all accessories. He was murdered in Eger in 1634 together with Albrecht von Waldstein . In 1635, only Kamnitz of the possessions passed to Wilhelm's nephew and heir Johann Octavian Kinsky. The parish in Windisch Kamnitz, which has been vacant since 1630, was initially replaced by the parish church of St. Jakobus in Kamnitz and added to it as a branch in 1654. The Berní rula from 1654 shows 25 farmers, seven gardeners and 13 cottagers for the village. In 1713 Windisch Kamnitz consisted of 58 houses. In 1787 there were already 113. Since 1761 there was a branch of the parish in Windisch Kamnitz. Since the old church in the cemetery had become dilapidated and was also too small, the new baroque church of St. Wenceslas, for the construction of which the owner of the Kamnitz estate, Francius Udalcius Kinsky, donated 1000 guilders. In 1833, 869 people lived in the 151 houses in the village.

After the abolition of patrimonial Windisch Kamnitz formed from 1850 with the districts Katzenberg, Rübengasse and Bornschlichte as well as a house from Grundmühle a political municipality in the district administration Tetschen / Děčín. In 1856 a parish was established again in Windisch Kamnitz and the rectory was built in 1864. Under Edmund Moritz Fürst von Clary and Aldringen , who had inherited the neighboring rule of Binsdorf in 1831, the touristic development of Bohemian Switzerland began , in particular the Prebischtores and the Kamnitzklammen. In 1869 Windisch Kamnitz had 1044 inhabitants, and in 1890 there were 1090. In 1881 the Ferdinandsklamm, named in honor of a visit by Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Este , was dammed and a boat trip from Windischkamnitz to the weir of the Grundmühle was set up, Ignaz Fiedler had already done this in the years 1877–1878 operated a boat trip from his house to the Grundmühle. In the same year Edmund von Clary and Aldringen had a lookout tower built on the Rosenberg and on May 4th 1890 an inn opened on the mountain. On November 9, 1913, the zeppelin "Sachsen" flew over the place at a height of 100 m on its way from Liegnitz via Haida to Dresden and was solemnly welcomed by the residents. In July 1914 the first plane flew over the place. The community of Windisch Kamnitz had 932 inhabitants in 1930. After the Munich Agreement , the village was added to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Tetschen district until 1945 , and from 1943 Tetschen-Bodenbach . In 1939 there were 855 people living in the community. After the end of the Second World War, Srbská Kamenice came back to Czechoslovakia. The German residents were expelled until 1946 . In 1949 the community was assigned to the newly formed Okres Nový Bor, after its replacement it came back to Okres Děčín in 1961 . The Dolský Mlýn settlement died out in the second half of the 20th century.

On January 26, 1972, a DC-9 of the Yugoslav airline JAT had an accident near Srbská Kamenice . Of the 28 people on board, the flight attendant Vesna Vulović was the only one who survived , buckled in the rear of the plane, which fell on a snow-covered slope near the village. According to official announcements, the accident was said to have been a bomb attack by Croatian terrorists. However, it is more likely that it will be shot down by air forces.
