geography

Vysoká Lípa is located on the southern edge of the Bohemian Switzerland National Park . It extends around the eastern part of the Zámecký vrch ( Castle Hill ). There are considerable differences in altitude within the village. The highest part on the Hofberg is 367 m above sea level. M., at the beginning of the village it is 261 m above sea level. M.

Neighboring towns are Mezní Louka in the northwest, Kamenická Stráň in the southwest, Srbská Kamenice in the south, and Jetřichovice in the east.

Place name

The place name obviously has a reference to the high altitude of the settlement and a forest name, the second part of the name probably goes back to "lipa" (= Slavic lime tree). As early as 1387 in the Kamnitzer town book ( Česká Kamenice ) an inheritance "Hoeleype" was mentioned.

history

Hofberg

Vysoká Lípa is one of the oldest settlements in the region. Since the place does not have its own church, it belonged to the parish of St. Wenceslas in Windisch-Kamnitz ( Srbská Kamenice ) as early as the 14th century . From around 1624 Hohenleipa was looked after by the parish of St. Jakob in Böhmisch Kamnitz. Since the establishment of the independent parish of St. Johannes von Nepomuk in Dittersbach in 1787, Hohenleipa was parish there. The place kept growing. In 1654 there are 8 farmers, 3 gardeners and 13 cottagers, which corresponds to 24 houses. In 1713, 9 farmers and 16 cottagers lived in “Hohe Leipa”, which resulted in 25 houses including an inn. In 1760, on the Hofberg, a flat knoll on the western slope of the Zámecký vrch, a small hunting lodge with a farmyard and forester's house was built. That gave the church a boost. As a result, the number of houses grew to 47. In 1961 there were 125 inhabitants. On the Zámecký vrch there was a small pleasure palace, of which only traces are left. Hohenleipa had two layers . These were the hamlet of Kirnischt, western part of Hinterdittersbach, today the Zadní Jetřichovice desert , and Zámeček at the western foot of the Zámecký vrch, a hunting lodge with a forester's lodge, which the Prince of Clary-Aldringen had built at the beginning of the 19th century.

The economic development of Vysoká Lípa was characterized by the lack of industry. The only exception was the construction of small quarries by the Clary-Aldringen in the 1830s. In 1939, 40% of the population lived from agriculture and forestry, 31% worked in industry and crafts and 12% in trade and transport. Today the community is a resort with restaurants, pensions and an intercamp. It is a starting point for tourist destinations such as the nearby rock castle Šaunštejn ("Schauenstein", also "Hohenleipa robbery castle") and the former Dolský mlýn ("ground mill"). In 1991 the place had 74 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 69 houses in which 88 people lived.

Monuments

In 1995 Vysoká Lípa was declared a municipal monument reserve. In the village, numerous houses from different periods, which go back to before 1620, have been preserved in their original state. Today they are under monument protection. These are half-timbered houses typical of this region .

Niche chapel in the church ground

In the upper part of the village there is a memorial for the victims of the First World War in the shape of a sandstone obelisk.

In the church ground, through which the former Kirchsteig leads down to Růžová (German: Rosendorf ) to the Kamnitzklamm , there is a niche chapel from 1716. Other smaller versions of such chapels can be found on the Mühlsteig, which also leads to the gorge. This was a processional path that shows the remains of other chapels as far as Jetřichovice.
