Na Tokáni (German Balzhütte ) is a single layer belonging to the Rynartice district of Jetřichovice ( Dittersbach ) . Two listed hunting lodges were destroyed by fire in May 2020.

Geographical location

The popular destination is in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains , in the rear Bohemian Switzerland , northwest of Jetřichovice.

history

The hunt for courting capercaillie in April every year has been a privilege of the nobility since early modern times in the Bohemian-Kamnitz domain , to which the forest area of the rear Bohemian Switzerland belonged since 1614 . Since the number of the capercaillie was already declining then, some of them were kept in fenced enclosures. The maintenance and supervision of the so-called zoo was the responsibility of Prince Kinsky's hunters , for whose accommodation the forerunner of the Balzhütte was built at the beginning of the 19th century at the latest.

In 1904 the old courtship hut was renovated and numerous hunting trophies from the Dittersbach district were housed in the main building. Due to a fault in the electrical system, the Balzhütte burned down in 1905. According to plans by the master builder August Hermann, the new construction of the Balzhütte in the alpine log cabin style began in the same year.

The courtship hut

The new Balzhütte, which, in addition to the hunting lodge, included a guest house, the pub and three other buildings, became popular hunting lodgings for the Fürst Kinsky family and their domestic and foreign guests. But even before the First World War, the Balzhütte restaurant was increasingly becoming a popular destination for hikers who stopped by and stayed overnight. In order to preserve his privacy, Prince Kinsky decided in 1931 to build a new mating hut, which he had surrounded with a fence. The architect of the new Balzhütte was the chief building officer, engineer Otto Gröber from Vienna . Today there is a restaurant here.

After the German population was expelled in 1946, Czechoslovak border troops seized the buildings, and after they left in 1968, a company holiday home moved into it. The restaurant was reopened. After 1989 the owners changed and the restaurant temporarily closed its doors. It was then reopened as a restaurant and hostel. On May 22, 2020, two historic hunting lodges burned down.
