Rudolf Kinauer

Rudolf Kinauer (born June 3, 1908 in Vienna ; † October 6, 1979 ) was an Austrian cartography historian .

After graduating from high school, Kinauer came to the Austrian National Library in Vienna on October 1, 1928 . He was initially employed as a clerk before he was assigned to the map collection . In 1937 he was accepted into the middle service. After he had received his doctorate in 1950 at the University of Vienna with a thesis on the Atlas Stosch , he was able to rise to the higher service. From 1954 until his retirement at the end of 1973 he was head of the map collection.

He is buried in the Hietzingen cemetery .
