Rudolf Manuwald

Rudolf Manuwald (born February 11, 1916 in Annaberg ; † December 10, 2002 in Annaberg-Buchholz ) was a German painter , graphic artist and metal designer .

Life

After attending primary school and secondary school in Annaberg, he worked as a window dresser and advertising painter. He developed himself into a recognized artist, mainly in the Erzgebirge area.

After 1945 he worked as a freelance painter and graphic artist. From 1952 he was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR, section painters / graphic artists. From 1992 he was a member of the Chemnitz Artists' Association and the Annaberg Atelier .

His works were u. a in Freiberg, Karl-Marx-Stadt, Berlin, Ahrenshoop, Halle and Prague. He received the Johannis R. Becher Medal for excellent performance twice . His works can be found u. a. in the Löwen pharmacy in Annaberg-Buchholz, in the dining room of the Lauter cultural center , in cultural and industrial buildings in Zschopau , Geyer and Chemnitz and in holiday homes (now partly hotels) in Oberwiesenthal . These works were often created in collaboration with the wood sculptor Heinz Heger . Rudolf Manuwald also dealt with the printing of fabrics and curtains.

Manuwald's estate, consisting of more than 300 works of art, was donated by his son Olaf to the collection of Erzgebirge landscape art in Schlettau Castle in April 2007 .
