Rudolf Peschel (painter)

Rudolf Peschel (born September 28, 1931 in Trautenau , † February 5, 1989 in Brieselang ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

life and work

After the resettlement, Peschel attended the central and high school in Stralsund from 1946 to 1950 . Then he worked in the people's shipyard in Stralsund . From 1952 to 1957 Peschel studied at the Academy of Fine and Applied Arts in Berlin-Weißensee with Theo Balden , Werner Klemke , Arno Mohr and Ernst Jazdzewski, among others .

In 1959 the artist settled in Brieselang and worked there as a freelance painter and graphic artist until 1989. He was considered a popular book and children's book illustrator in the GDR. In 1972 and 1979, books he illustrated were included in the selection of the most beautiful books of the German Democratic Republic . He drew for Eulenspiegel Verlag . He also made press drawings, free graphics such as woodcuts and paintings. He was married to the painter Ruth Peschel (* 1933 in Torgau).
