Rudolf Schwarz (born October 27, 1878 in Kaiserslautern , † April 13, 1960 in Tutzing ) was a German sculptor and painter.

Life

Schwarz was born in Kaiserslautern in 1878. After studying at the trade museum, he received his training from 1896 in the sculpture school of Wilhelm von Rümann at the Munich Art Academy . He enrolled there at the age of 18 on October 27, 1896 with the matriculation number 1579 for the subject of sculpture. His father's occupation is given as an accountant. Beginning in 1902, he showed his works at the annual exhibition in the Munich Glass Palace . He was a member of the Reich Association of German Artists . Schwarz received the Rome Prize and the large silver medal of the Academy. In 1944 he suffered the loss of his Munich studio and the works stored there. Schwarz lived in Unterzeismering, a district of Tutzing, where he died in 1960. His works include, among other mostly female figures, the 55 cm high sculpture Nude with a chain made of dark patinated bronze.
