Rudolf Seibold , actually Rudolf Seiboldny (born April 1, 1874 in Vienna , † February 3, 1952 in Munich ) was an Austrian actor and operetta singer ( tenor ).

Life

As a boy he performed with the Wiener Schrammel Quartet and performed little songs. He also took on children's roles at the Vienna Theater in der Josefstadt . The artist completed a brief training as a singer and actor. In 1889 he made his debut as Blind in the operetta Die Fledermaus at the Theater in der Josefstadt, of which he was a member until 1891. This was followed by stage engagements at the Theater von Iglau (as a choir player with solo engagement), at the Theater von Preßburg (Bratislava), in Reichenberg in Bohemia (Liberec), at the Theater in Brno (Brno) , at the Theater an der Wien, at the Theater in Olomouc (Olomouc), at the Orpheum in Vienna, at the Berlin National Theater and finally from 1905 at the Theater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich. He found his artistic home on the latter music stage:

In the year after he took up an important theater event, the first performance of Lehár 's 'Merry Widow' , which began a new heyday of Viennese operetta. And on October 6th, 1906, Rudolf Seibold sang himself completely into the hearts of Munich residents as Danilo. About 300 times he then embodies this role, and hardly less often Lieutenant Nicki in 'Waltz Dream' by Oscar Straus .

Together with Gisela Fischer , he formed the dream couple in the Munich operetta world . In 1952 he stood on stage for the last time as Kaiser Franz-Joseph. The artist's daughter was Mizzi Seibold (1902–?), Who had enjoyed great success as an operetta singer since the late 1920s, especially at theaters in southern Germany and Austria.

In Munich, Rudi-Seibold-Strasse commemorates the singer and actor.
