Rudolf Steinmetz (theologian, 1801)

Karl Christian Theodor Rudolf Steinmetz (born December 19, 1801 in Rhoden (Diemelstadt) , † February 12, 1854 in Clausthal ) was a German Lutheran theologian and general superintendent of the General Diocese of Grubenhagen and the Harz region .

Life

Steinmetz was a son of Pastor Friedrich Steinmetz. He studied theology and became assistant chaplain (parish and school collaborator) in Clausthal in 1825, second pastor in Moringen in 1830 , pastor in Rehburg in 1837 , pastor and superintendent in Holtorf in 1845 and first pastor in Clausthal and general superintendent of Grubenhagen in 1849 .

In 1853, together with Ludwig Adolf Petri and Friedrich Münchmeyer, he founded the first Lutheran chapel association, from which the Martin Luther Bund later developed.

His sons Hermann and Rudolf also became theologians and pastors of the Hanover regional church .
