Rudolf Wunderlich
Rudolf Wunderlich (born March 10, 1912 in Leipzig , † April 5, 1988 in Berlin ) was a German politician and anti-fascist.
Life
Rudolf Wunderlich was trained as a typesetter ; he was involved in the German labor movement as a worker athlete and functionary of the Communist Youth Association as well as a temporary member of the KPD opposition .
Because of his work in the political resistance against National Socialism , he was briefly arrested in 1933 and sentenced to four years in prison in 1935. In 1939 he was sent to Sachsenhausen concentration camp . In 1942 he was transferred to the Lichterfelde satellite camp and became the camp's first elder . From there he managed to escape in 1944.
In the subsequent illegality , which lasted until the liberation at the end of April 1945, Rudi Wunderlich wrote a factual report about his imprisonment times.
In the post-war period he was involved in the memorial work of the GDR as a research assistant on the committee of anti-fascist resistance fighters , until in 1970 he made the "mistake" of inviting the former prisoner Robert Havemann to the inauguration of the memorial in Brandenburg / Havel .
