Rudolf "Rudi" Zedi (born August 31, 1974 in Essen ) is a German football coach who was active as a player until 2012.

Career

As a player

In his youth, Zedi played for VfB Essen-Nord and Rot-Weiss Essen . In the second division team of RWE he came on June 11, 1994 for his first professional assignment, which should also remain his only one in the club's jersey. The team was relegated in 1994 and he went to black and white food .

In 1996 he moved to the then first division club Fortuna Düsseldorf , where he was initially not used in the professional team. After eleven missions in the second division season 1998/99 he was able to fight for a regular place with the Düsseldorf team for the first time in the following season in the Regionalliga West / Südwest . From 2000 he joined his team in the North Season. After Fortuna Düsseldorf's relegation from the regional league, he left the club and was under contract with Chemnitzer FC in the 2002/03 season . He then moved to Rot-Weiß Erfurt for two years . As a regular player in the defense, he played a major role in the promotion to the second Bundesliga in the first year, but relegation followed after just one year. After a season at VfR Aalen , Zedi played for Kickers Emden , where he also held the position of captain. With the East Frisians he qualified in 2008 for the new single-track 3rd division . In the three years in the north he played at least 30 games each season and was quite successful with a total of 13 goals for a defensive player.

For the 2009/10 season, Zedi moved to the second division club SC Paderborn 07 and signed a contract until June 30, 2011. There he was mostly only used as a substitute and therefore terminated the contract early at the end of May 2010 to join FC Rot- Erfurt knows to return. After two successful years, in each of which he completed 37 of the 38 season games, he played his last game as an active footballer on May 5, 2012.

As a trainer

He was then contractually bound to the club by Rot-Weiß Erfurt. He shared the position of co-trainer until June 2013 with Henri Fuchs , who is temporarily absent due to his parallel training as a soccer teacher at the Cologne Sports University. He has been a DFB A license holder since June 2014 and has been the sporting director at BSV Kickers Emden since July 2014. Since November 2014, he has also worked there as head coach. In May 2017, Zedi announced that he would not fulfill his contract in Emden, which ran until June 30, 2018.
