Henri Fuchs (born June 23, 1970 in Greifswald ) is a former German soccer player. He played first division football in both the DFV area and in the DFB match operations . With FC Hansa Rostock he won the championship and the cup in 1991. At DFV and DFB he was a young national player.

Career as a soccer player

DDR-Oberliga

At the age of seven, Fuchs began his career as a soccer player with the company sports association (BSG) of the North nuclear power plant in Lubmin , which was located in Greifswald and called itself BSG Kernkraftwerk Greifswald . In 1982 he was delegated to the northern soccer center of the GDR , the FC Hansa Rostock. In the 1987/88 season he played as a striker for FC Hansa in the junior league. In 1988/89 he belonged to the second team of the Hanseatic League, which played in the third-class Rostock district league . At the same time, however, he was also used in ten GDR league games, in which he already indicated his striker qualities with three goals. He made his debut in the league on November 19, 1988, when he was substituted on in the 12th matchday Sachsenring Zwickau - FC Hansa (3-0) in the final quarter of an hour. For the 1989/90 season he was officially included in the league team, usually played as a left striker in all 26 point games and scored three goals again. The 1.80 m tall fox completed his last season at Hansa Rostock in 1990/91 with 24 stakes and twelve goals, with which he became the Rostock’s top scorer and thus had a significant share in Rostock’s win of the championship title. On June 2, 1991, Fuchs played his last competitive game for Hansa Rostock. He stood with his team as a left striker in the final final of the GDR soccer cup , which FC Hansa won 1-0 over Eisenhüttenstädter FC Stahl. With this, Fuchs had played 71 competitive games for the first team of FC Hansa within three seasons, in which he scored 22 goals, including 60 GDR league games with 18 goals.

Bundesliga

In the seasons 1991/92 to the first half of 1993/94, Fuchs played for Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln after a transfer fee of 2.5 million DM . In his first season in Cologne, he played 34 of a total of 38 league games, in which he was in the starting line-up 24 times. With his ten goals he was one of the most dangerous players in Cologne. In the 1992/93 season, which lasted 34 games, Fuchs played 21 games, 13 times from the start, but only eight times for the full length of the game. With his six championship goals he was the second best goalscorer in Cologne. After another seven short-term missions from August to December 1993 without scoring, Fuchs moved to league competitor 1. FC Dynamo Dresden . There he played twelve point games by the end of the season, in which he scored two goals. In 1994/95 he was in 16 Bundesliga games in the Dresden starting lineup, was substituted on five times and scored four goals, with which he was Dynamo's third-best shooter. After 1. FC Dynamo had been relegated at the end of the season, Fuchs left the club.

In the following three seasons, Fuchs was active in the 2nd Bundesliga . In 1995/96 he played for Chemnitzer FC , where he played 18 out of 34 league games and scored four goals. He then joined VfB Leipzig for two years . In the 68 point games of the two seasons, Fuchs was used 58 times and with 13 championship goals was again one of the most accurate players in his team. In the summer of 1998 Fuchs returned to the 1st Bundesliga for FC Hansa Rostock. While he played only four times from the start in the 1998/99 season and came with 17 substitutions to a total of 21 league games, he was not used at all in 1999/2000 and had only two short appearances at the end of the season in 2000/01.

End of club career

This ended Fuchs' Bundesliga career. From summer 2001 to December 2003 he played for FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt in the third-class regional league and played 55 games with ten goals during this time. After a break without a contract, he joined TSG Neustrelitz in the fourth-class Oberliga Nordost in the first half of 2005 .

Selection player

In 1987, Fuchs was accepted into the squad of the GDR youth national team. He started in the U-17 selection and was with the U-18 team in 1988 European Championship third . In the small final against Spain he scored both goals for a 2-0 win. A year later he was with the U-20 juniors at the junior soccer world championship in 1989 in Saudi Arabia and played all three preliminary round games until the GDR was eliminated from the tournament. In total, Fuchs played 19 international matches for the GDR youngsters and scored six goals. In 1989 he was appointed to the GDR's Olympic team, with which he played several test matches. Even before the start of the qualifying games for the 1992 Olympics, the team was withdrawn in the course of German reunification . In 1991, Fuchs was a member of the DFB U-21 national team, with which he played four international matches and scored one goal.

Career as a football coach

In 2007, Fuchs took over the training of the junior team at FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt as part of a trainer internship to acquire the A trainer license. On April 28, 2009 he was promoted from assistant coach to head coach of FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt, with whom he was able to win the Thuringia Cup. He then returned to the position of assistant coach. After Stefan Emmerling's dismissal on August 25, 2012, he was made interim head coach of FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt.

On January 1, 2015, Fuchs took over as coach at the regional league team VfB Germania Halberstadt . After just one win from the first ten games of the 2015/16 season, he was given leave of absence.
