Gustav August Rudolph Crasemann (born August 14, 1841 in Hamburg ; † November 24, 1929 in Blankenese ) was a Hamburg merchant and member of parliament.

Life

Crasemann was a son of the businessman Claes Christian Crasemann . He completed a commercial training in Hamburg and was then transferred to the same company clerk . After the company he had previously worked for had been liquidated, he founded the company Crasemann & Stavenhagen in 1861 together with Ernst Friedrich Stavenhagen . The company was very successful in overseas business. A younger brother of Crasemann joined the company in 1876 for Stavenhagen, who died in 1875.

From 1877 Crasemann belonged to the Commerzdeputation , which he headed from January 1891 to January 1895 and from January 1915 to January 1917 as President. Crasemann was also involved in various voluntary work in various deputations in Hamburg. From 1880 and from 1883 to 1907 he was a member of the Hamburg citizenship . From 1909 to 1912, Crasemann was Vice President of the Hansabund and head of the Hamburg branch. He was an opponent of the planned conversion of the Colonial Institute to the University of Hamburg . He was a member of the board of directors of the main association of German naval associations abroad . From 1916 to 1929 Crasemann was a member of the supervisory board of the mortgage bank in Hamburg .
