Rudolph von Bünau (* July 27, 1659 ; † November 8, 1709 near Brussels ) was a royal-Polish and electoral-Saxon , also Saxony-Weißenfels regional director, war councilor of the principality of Saxony-Querfurt , colonel, high commander and governor of Heldrungen and heir - and judge on Roßbach and Harras .
Life
He came from the Saxon noble family von Bünau . Like many of his relatives, he first embarked on a military career in the service of the Elector of Saxony, but in the late 17th century he entered the service of the Duke of Saxony-Weissenfels. In Weißenfels he took over the command of the troops stationed at Neu-Augustusburg Castle , including the Swiss Guard and the Guard Corps. A short time later he became the supreme commander of the Heldrungen fortress , which at that time had hardly any military significance and whose garrison was completely disbanded in 1712. He acquired the manor Harras as a private accommodation befitting his status . As high commander, Rudolph von Bünau was also the governor for the office of Heldrungen .
In 1698 he acquired the manor in Roßbach from the von Werder family, whose conversion to Erblehn combined with the granting of written status and the higher and inheritance courts over the village of Roßbach on July 29, 1699 at Duke Johann Georg von Sachsen-Weißenfels due to his services reached.
After the formation of a new infantry regiment, he became its commander and took part in the War of the Spanish Succession from 1701. In 1707 he acquired the feudal estates located in Oberheldrungen from the Trebra siblings , which included not only land but also a desolate and undeveloped knight's place with six official houses, written offices and inheritance courts above. When he actively returned to the War of Succession, he was fatally wounded in a skirmish near Brussels on November 8, 1709. His body was transferred to Sachsen-Weißenfels, where he was buried in the church in Ostramondra .
