Name origin
The street was named after the death of the finance inspector, bank manager and politician Charles de Lasteyrie (1877-1936), who was finance minister in the second government of Raymond Poincaré between 1922 and 1924 and a member of the local council of the 16th arrondissement for many years .
history
In 1840 the street was named “ Route départementale No. 9” and “Avenue de Saint – Denis”. It was located in the former municipality of Passy and was added to the Paris road network in 1863 under the name Rue de Malakoff in memory of the victorious battle in the Crimean War for Fort Malakoff in 1855. It was given its current name on August 17, 1938.
