The Rue des Belles Feuilles is a 640 meters long and 10 meters wide street in the Quartier de la Porte Dauphine in the 16th arrondissement of Paris .

It starts at number 10 on Place de Mexico and ends at number 5 on Place du Chancelier Adenauer .

Just before the north-westerly street reaches its geographical center, it is interrupted by avenue Victor-Hugo , which it crosses at the point where rue de la Pompe breaks and rue Saint-Didier ends. In the further course it meets the streets Mérimée and Émile Ménier .

Name origin

It got its current name ( street of beautiful leaves ) because part of the street led along a park wall over which the leaves of the trees were blown; the park has completely disappeared today.

history

Before the street got its current name in 1868, it was called Rue des Biches ( German  street of the hinds ) and was a street in the municipality of Passy . It was added to the Paris road network by decree on May 23, 1863. It received its current name on May 23, 1863.

Attractions

  • No. 10/12: The future French Prime Minister Pierre Bérégovoy (1925–1993) lived here. The fact that he had acquired the apartment he lived in on the tenth floor through an interest-free loan from the wealthy businessman and Mitterrand confidante Roger-Patrice Pelat (1918–1989) later put him under political pressure.
