The street consists entirely of a staircase that leads from rue de Cléry to rue Beauregard , which runs parallel to it .
history
The Rue des Degrés is one of several parallel streets that connect the ring road in front of the moat of the city wall Charles V - today's Rue de Cléry - with the 6th bulwark of the city wall Louis XIII. connect with each other. In place of the bulwark, there is now a small hill, la butte Bonne-Nouvelle , which was created by the accumulation of rubbish outside the city wall. The houses on Rue des Degrés have neither doors nor windows on this side; the latter existed earlier, but they were walled up. The Rue des Degrés got its name in the middle of the 17th century .
