The 2nd arrondissement of Paris , the Arrondissement de la Bourse , is the smallest arrondissement in the city of Paris with an area of ​​99 hectares .

history

The 2nd arrondissement is the result of the city's expansion to the north during the 15th and 16th centuries . However, the first buildings were built in the 14th century . At that time, the city wall built by Charles V extended to today's Rue d'Aboukir . Under Louis XIII. The urban area expanded in the 16th century to the northern border of the arrondissement, where the large boulevards run today.

In 1860 the boundaries of the 2nd arrondissement were set.
