Ruellia portellae is a species of the genus Ruellia ( Ruellia ) within the Acanthus family (Acanthaceae).

Vegetative characteristics
Ruellia portellae is a multi-branched, upright, perennial herbaceous plant and reaches heights of growth of around 30 centimeters. The above-ground parts of the plant are hairy with fine velvety fibers.
The constantly against arranged on the stem leaves are divided into petiole and leaf blade. The simple leaf blade is elliptical-ovate with a length of 5 to 7.5 centimeters with a pointed upper end. The upper side of the leaf is dark green, along the midrib and the leaf veins there is a light band. The underside of the leaf is red-purple.
Generative characteristics
The sessile flowers are arranged individually in the leaf axils. The hermaphrodite flowers are zygomorphic with a double flower envelope .

The natural range of Ruellia portellae is Brazil .
