The Alt-Gutrat ruin (also called Rossstall ) is the ruin of a rock castle northwest of the path that leads to the Gutrat castle ruins in the municipality of Hallein bei Au .

The former castle is hidden in the forest on a rock near the Gutrat castle ruins. The rock on which it is built drops vertically on the northeast side, but it is easy to climb from the west. To find the ruins, you have to turn off the path in a north-westerly direction approx. 200 m before the Gutrat castle ruins; there is no path, but you can walk through the loose beech forest without any problems.

The history of Alt-Gutrat is largely unknown. It was probably built in the 12th century on Tuval (later: Gutratsberg) at a height of 622 m on a rock spur. Remains of a rectangular tower can still be seen, of which a few square meters of ashlar masonry have been preserved in the southwest corner. A curtain wall was attached to the tower up to the cliff. To the west the terrain drops flat, and here probably a bailey was. There are water sources here, which were important for the choice of the building site. The masonry was not used for the construction of the later Gutrat Castle. It is therefore assumed that both castles existed side by side in the 12th and 13th centuries.
