Siegburg ruins

The Siegburg ruin is the rest of a spur castle at 465  m above sea level. NHN high mountain spur "Sommerhalde" opposite Sulzau over a Neckar loop in the district of Börstingen in the municipality of Starzach in the Tübingen district in Baden-Württemberg .

The castle was probably built by the lords of Siegburg at the beginning of the 11th century. In 1060 the castle was mentioned with a pilgrimage by Berno von Siegburg and during this time it was plundered by his brother Arnold. The castle probably fell into disrepair after the 11th century. The remaining stones were probably used to build the nearby Weitenburg Castle , from which an underground corridor was to lead to Siegburg Castle.

Of the former castle complex on a trapezoidal area measuring 75 by 21 to 45 meters, only the remains of the wall and the moat have been preserved.
