Rudolf Urech

Rudolf Urech (born April 1, 1815 in Hallwil , † September 9, 1872 in Brugg ; resident in Hallwil) was a Swiss politician and doctor . From 1862 to 1868 he was a member of the government of the Canton of Aargau , and from 1869 to 1872 he was a member of the National Council .

biography

Rudolf Urech attended secondary school in Lenzburg and the canton school in Aarau . Then studied from 1833 medicine at the newly founded University of Zurich . In 1837 he passed the state examination, after which he deepened his knowledge at German universities. Then he opened a doctor's practice in Hallwil, which he soon moved to Lenzburg. Urech's wife died in 1839 after a year of marriage, later Urech married her older sister. From 1847 he worked for fifteen years in the former Königsfelden monastery , which was then the location of the cantonal hospital. Then he opened in Brugga doctor's office again. In 1869, three years after the death of his second wife, he married a third time.

In 1862 Urech was elected to the Grand Council , which shortly afterwards appointed him to the cantonal government . He was a member of this until 1868, after which he was elected to the National Council. In this he belonged to the liberal faction. Urech played a key role in building up the Brugger Children's Hospital and was a member of various school authorities. He died a month after resigning from the National Council.
